How long would this type of cancer would be in the lung or the body before the symptoms start. is years or months days ?

I have stage 4 non small cell lung cancer for 2 years and I never smoked. At the age of 44 I whant to know if what i eat is promoting this fluid or the cancer its self?

My grandpa is in his ninth month of small cell lung cancer and right now he can’t even feed himself. He and I are fishing buddies. I’m 20 and I haven’t lost anyone yet. I just had the worse dream last night and couldn’t sleep. My mom who works for a doctor’s office has lost all hope and I am still believing that he could make it.

My sister has very advanced small cell lung cancer. She has just started on the chemo durrg called Topecan. This is being used as a second line of chemo drugs. The first chemo durgs used were cisplatin and etoposide, then carboplatin and etoposide. The cancer has continued to spread, from the lung to the liver then the bones and now she just went through radiation for several brain tumors-she was diagnosed in November. What side effects should be expected? Is there any other options except clinical trials? At Southwestern, I was told that they had said to my brother in law that "the radiation would kill all the brain tumors." But it has really taken a toll on her strength, balance etc. Thank you for any information.

My mom has small cell lung cancer recently diagnosed this past monday.She has osteporisis,heart stint,biopolar dissorder,arthritis,thryroid disease and a respitory disease.I am concerned that the oncologist will even beable to offer chemo or radiation on top of all her conditions she has.I need opinions from people that are familier with this..I need support through this hard time..Thank you..

i want to know about small cell lung cancer i’ve read that usualy cancer is dormant for years before it start to grow.
my question is how long usualy takes for the cancer while is growing to show symptoms does it happen realy fast or does it take less than a year les than six month less than three months or does it just take weeks. thanks

My mother was diagnosed on March 9th 2007 with stage 3b non small cell lung cancer. She had a PET scan and they found another possible tumor in her neck. The cancer has spead into her lymph nodes and she has undergone almost 3 weeks of radiation and 1 week of chemo. Her white blood cell count is extremely low so they have terminated all treatment until they come back up. She started losing her hair on Thursday and by the end of the day it was all gone.

My mother was just diagnosed with small cell lung cancer. She has been undergoing testing and just started treatments this week with it. I do know shes at stage 3 and its limited stage. Please any information you could give would be great I have seen some information but hoping what you may find looks better than what i have. We still haven’t gotten all the results back yet we will this Friday. But thanks for any and all help.
