My dad is 49 and has mesothelioma in his abdomen. He just got surgery to remove the tumors and started his first treatment of chemo during surgery. What should I expect and what can I do to support/take care of him?

He is 65 and he has not started his chemo or radiation yet.I thought that loss of appetite was because of treatment .Since he was only diagnosed last week he hasnt begun treatment yet.I just want to know if this is part of cancer.I not really asking an in depth question just curious is this a normal part of lung cancers progression?

My mom has terminal lung cancer and is on 24 hr oxygen. It gets difficult at times when I remember how she used to travel and was always on the go. Now there’s nothing that she can do without getting short of breath. I’m sad all of the time. I don’t know how I can function as well as I do at work. I just go through the motions.
My dad has liver cancer and his chemo seems to be working pretty well. Is there some type of support group for people in my situation? I would like to hear from anyone that’s experiencing or has experienced this situation,or anyone that can make me feel better. I’m in my fourties and so is my sister. My sister stays with Mom while I’m at work and I take over from there.
There’s a nurse that comes at Noon on Saturdays and stays there until Noon Sunday. That helps quite a bit.We are devastated.

My dearest friend just found out she has lung cancer in one lung and in some of her lymph nodes. She is having no surgery but is going to through chemo and radiation. Why isnt the lung removed? Is it and indication that she is far deep into the cancer that there is no point to the surgery? They said she has a 5% survival rate. What does that mean in reality? How do I interpret such information and put it in some type of perspective?

My 87 year old father is being denied cataract surgery. He was diagnosed with small cell stage 3 lung cancer in November 2009. He had one chemo capsule the beginning of December. No other cancer treatment since that point of time. He just had blood work done a few days ago. From what I understand his blood work came back good, it doesn’t appear as if his cancer has spread…his kidney count is a bit out of the norm. Other than insurance denial, what reasons would there be to deny him cataract surgery?

My mother-in-law has been battling stage 4 lung cancer for a year and a half. As of yesterday, she is off all forms of chemo. How long can we expect her to live?

My mom has stage 4 lung cancer that has spread to her bone and has recently invaded her liver. By the grace of god she has been able to fight this for 2 years now. She’ll be doing at least 2 rounds of a different chemo and then a scan before moving on. But we are wondering what we can expect see, symptom-wise, when her liver begins to fail.

My father is 80 and has not smoked for 30 years. He was just diagnosed with Small Cell lung cancer and will be undergoing an aggressive chemo/radiation therapy. Can an individual get lung cancer after not smoking for 30 years or do you think there is another variable causing the cancer?
