im 10 and i know it sounds stupid but i have a lot of the symptoms of lung cancer (blood in sputum, chronic cough) and im to scared to tell my parents but i have a annual doctors check-up next week and i’ll be gettting a blood test so i wanna know, would they find it in the blood??? PLEASE HELP!
Am thinking that:
- lung cancer, from what I’ve read, looks like any old thing until it’s too late
- doctors use research to inform their judgement around testing
- research suggests that cancer tends to show up in older people
Someone who started smoking at 11 will have smoked for 20 years by the time they’re 31. Their doctor might not bother testing for cancer because the age profile is lower than the typical threshold (age 50, I think).
Thanks Denise, for replying.
But if the number of cigarettes smoked is, as many people say, the most important cause of lung cancer, what role does age play?
I’m currently double majoring in microbiology and psychology, and I’m 75% sure that I’m going to add biology as a third major. My GPA right now is only a 2.7 but I had a rough first couple of quarters, and I’ve been doing much better this quarter. I’m only in my first year of college, so I have a few years to bring it back up to par. I haven’t taken the MCAT yet(due to lack of physics classes). I’m assisting my anatomy professor in the dissection of cadavers, organizing a charity event for the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, participating in a team for the Relay for Life, and I’ve talked to several doctors about shadowing them during surgery.
So my grandmother was diagnost (Not Officially) with mesothelioma, but we believe it may be a tick born illness, due to the fact that three years earlier she went in and wanted tick born illness tests done on her, but found out that the doctor lied, he said that he had done them, but when she went in a week ago, she found that no such tests had been conducted. Then after told she ha mesothelioma, the doctor said that she could call for any questions, so she did and once again she was lied to because for two straight days none of her messages had been answered. So this made my family furious, so we swiched doctors, and her new doctor is doing more test, so What are the Chances of a pleural effusion in Borrelia burgdorferi, because we found out that people are being miss-diagnost this, while being tested for mesothelioma because it has all of the symptoms that she has right now, and she has nt had an official diagnosis(the old doctor just said she had it, from her symptoms. So What are the Chances of a pleural effusion in Borrelia burgdorferi, and how many americans have had pleural effusion in Borrelia burgdorferi( a type of tick born illness), and how many have been miss diagnost for pleural effusion in Borrelia burgdorferi. Also not to be snappy but I need actual numbers not just"it’s rare" or "it’s common"due to the fact that this is very important to me.
Also my grand mother lives in the woods of New England and raises goats, which are constantly getting ticks due to the overpopulation of deer in the area.
