Are modern electricians still regularly exposed to asbestos?

Considering that they have to get into crawlspaces with asbestos filled insulation, drill holes in asbestos filled drywall, flooring and ceiling tiles, and handle asbestos coated wiring/boxes. Are electricians still at a high risk of developing mesothelioma? And what of their family members, and anyone else who occupies the same residence with them?
Or does the industry have proper safeguards in place nowadays?

Hey Chaucer..If I said no..It would be a lie…there is hardly a building or industry that’s over 25 years old that does not contain something ASbestos..The material was used for everything..Now can you get a lung disorder from most of NO..its not loose asbestos but drilling cutting and grinding is a good way to stir up a problem..Abatement companies are everywhere and are under very strict ordinances however the best place to find a problem is where they are…really if you them in their operating mode you might want to stay clear…Try to do what you can with what you have to work with ,that was the best material in that era that America had..Who would have thought it would have such a bad effect on everyone…So once again the answer is YES they can and its important to know what your doing to avoid the problem…From the E

If they work in very old buildings they could be.
