Are modern electricians still regularly exposed to asbestos?

Mesothelioma FAQs
Considering that they have to get into crawlspaces with asbestos filled insulation, drill holes in asbestos filled drywall, flooring and ceiling tiles, and handle asbestos coated wiring/boxes. Are electricians still at a high risk of developing mesothelioma? And what of their family members, and anyone else who occupies the same residence with them?
Or does the industry have proper safeguards in place nowadays?

I doubt that the proper precautions are always taken in the situations you describe.
In particular, there definitely is still a lot of asbestos out there. Most of it has not been removed, it has been "encapsulated". Drilling into it would definitely disturb it, and put some of it into the air.
