Before putting in a carpet about 10 years ago and I pulled up the old carpet that the previous owner installed. It was glued indoor/outdoor carpeting. There was tile under the carpet but because it was stuck to the foam underside of the carpet I had to take up all the tiles. The house was built in 1963. I scrubbed the floor before the new carpet was laid. I did not know anything about wearing a respirator mask while doing this job. Also, our utility room has loose tiles (some broken) exposing the concrete floor due to water heater flood etc. Been living here for 30 years. Do I have to worry about the effects of asbestos from not knowing? I don’t feel sick and I am in relatively good health. I just found out this information on the web while considering taking up the carpet to lay new vinyl tiles.
