no, I have the same stuff in my house and I lived there my whole life (20 years), we made the pop corn stuff come down too and onto our body nothing happened. Plus before you can get a loan from a bank professionals have to come in and look at the house to make sure it is safe to live in. Don’t worry many houses have pop corn ceilings.

i think mesthelioma is caused by years of exposure to asbestos (for ex someone who worked in construction before asbestos was removed.) if he has any cough or pain then go to the dr

I’m fairly sure that limited exposure is not a real issue. But I would think its a good idea to have your house checked. If nothing else it will calm your fears.
Also, like the person above, I too have a room in my house with that type of ceiling. The ceiling is apparently as old as the room which was built in the late 40′s. I’m fine.

I don’t know if asbestos is used in popcorn ceilings or not, but I do know many homes have asbestos in them usually in the insulation and under flooring. Simply living in a home with asbestos is not a danger. It has to be disturbed and become airborne so that it is inhaled. Problems can occur from a single exposure, but it would be more like taking all off the ceiling in the entire house without protection. It takes 25 years for mesothelioma to manifest.
