The doc said I have atelectasis?

so I looked it up.
It said something about collapsed lung and possible asbestos exposure.
I kept saying that I coughed like an asbestosis patient.
For ppl who know of this ailment…tell me stuff like how long it takes to heal. I generally don’t heal quickly at all. So I am worried.
One lady told me to hold my breath for 10 sec…but I can only hold it 3 sec.
I’m on steriods, an inhailer, and a Z pac. I also have Atuss.
Help me understand what I have and make me "feel" better…

If you have a atelectasis; then u know your lung has collapsed d/t decreased inhalation. Your aveoli in your lungs are not exchanging the carbon dioxide & oxygen properly. We inhale O2 & exhale CO2; you have a BUILD UP OF CO2 d/t this.
Besides using your inhaler, u need to take deep breathes, hold it for few seconds then exhale. Do this several times a day. All this is doing is re-expanding your lung again. There is nothing else that can be done now. Your steriods are to decrease the inflamation (swelling) in lung tissues to aid in keeping the passage open as well.
