What is more harmful, breathing in cooking oil smoke all day or breathing harmless asbestos?
There is natural asbestos in our community. We’ve lived our whole lives exposed to it and they’re hasn’t been any health concerns due to the asbestos.
And one of our local stores, KRL & GEN. STORE is suing our regional Corporation for 1 million dollars due asbestos exposure after years of business here. The asbestos was here before they came and took over that business from the previous owners.
I am asking this question because they cook 8 hours a day 6 days a week and they’re breathing in their own cooking oil that whole day and I wanted to know which is worse, breathing in cooking oil(with no fresh air) or almost harmless asbestos. (the owners are rarely outdoors either. You don’t see them fishing, hunting or out getting wood! I don’t think they’ve been outdoors long enough to have complications from the asbestos to sue! They’ve lived here for 15+ years and the only time they’re outdoors is when they’re getting on a plane or to the post office)
P.S IF YOU COME AND VISIT AMBLER DON’T EAT THEIR FOOD OR BUY THEIR SUPPLIES. THEIR BURGER’S ARE UNDERCOOKED, FRIES ARE ALMOST BURT AND WHO KNOWS HOW OFTEN THEY CHANGE THEIR COOKING OIL! They sell over a year expired stuff; soda, canned foods, frozen’s, etc. and they don’t sell their Sh*t cheap either, they are the most expensive store in town; .50 for a can of expired pop and .35 for a candy bar!

Both are just as bad, they cause cancer. Asbestos causes chromosomal breaks, which can result in lung cancer while sniffing cooking oil includes inhaling polyaromatic hydrocarbons that can be bioactivated into carcinogens.

Asbestos is harmless in it’s natural form just as it is harmless in floor tile. However, once you start sanding or scraping or chiseling it, the particles you inhale are what can kill you. Under the circumstances you describe, I’d guess the smoke and oil will do more harm to the lungs.
